10 years ago, in the UK, a flooring company in Cheshire experienced an explosion. Safe membrane release requires the entire filter unit, with it's associated release membrane, to be designed as a cohesive unit and strong enough to withstand any explosion, with out panels and nuts and bolts being launched into the air harming anything in their path.

To correctly follow safe work procedures, an exclusion zone should be marked up and enforced, directly in front of the explosion release panel for a minimum distance of 20m. Frequently ignored when dust extraction solutions are designed and the filter position is confirmed, this means an explosion membrane may face a car park, a building with glass windows, both putting unsuspecting passersby at risk, in the unlikely event.
